Trunk or Treat

Every year since we have moved into our neighborhood they have had a chili cook-off /Trunk or Treat night. The last two years we have gone it has been really fun and we even won the cook-off one year with a white chili recipe. Although the actual activity has been fun , it has also become a tradition each year for Chad to sign me up for something to bring and then telling me that day that he will be late at work, so have the trunk decorated, have both kids ready in their costumes, have the food (that I signed you up for) ready, and have the family packed, ready, and smiling to go when I get home.....ok!....meet you there honey!

I tried to be adventurous and make a couple of things for dessert, two new recipes I have never tried....mint brownies and homemade oreo cookies with green frosting. Ok, the cookies were easy and turned out fine. But the brownies had a few steps and if I had not been under some time constraints, probably wouldn't have seemed so bad. But between me hucking teddy grahams at Ethan to keep him happy and him hucking toys under my feet in the kitchen for me to trip on it was more of a process than I should have undertaken. Between batches of cookies I was running out to the trunk to add decorations, putting a plastic bag over Ashlyn's head in the yard to spray her head black for her costume, gathering up ninja swords for Ethan (which he used as weapons against me during this process), and melting the butter and chocolate chips for the final layer of the brownies...all at the same time....almost. Plus it was about 80 degrees in the house from baking for a couple of hours in the kitchen and I do not do well when I am sweating and under pressure!

Chad got home and we were already 20 minutes behind schedule.....he was wondering why I was in a bad mood......

Oh....and by the way, my brownies didn't set up in enough time for me to even bring them....next year I am signing Chad up to bring the food......

These pictures below are from a previous day when I was trying on Ethan's ninja costume

Hey there! This is your cousin Shana. I have noticed your blog on Jana's and wanted to invite you to my blog since mine is private. Email me at cheneyfun(at)gmail(dot)com and I'll send you one.

Your family is adorable! Your daughter is going to be one heartbreaker if you ask me. You'd better start cleaning your gun ;) I love the ninja costume! Isn't halloween fun? Tiffany, you are one tuff woman to pull all that together in short notice.
