Well....it has been a few weeks since Ashlyn's party...but I am finally posting. Ashlyn this year invited just a few friends to go see the Beverly Hills Chihuahua movie for her birthday celebration. It turned out to be fun but the beginning of the night didn't run as smoothly as I had hoped. Ashlyn chose to go to Chili's for dinner because that is one of her favorite places. I called ahead to put our names on the list so when we got there we would hopefully only have to wait a few minutes before being seated. When we got there Chili's was invaded by a lot of poofy strapless dresses....yes, it was homecoming night! Ahhhhh! Well, that was ok because I called ahead and put our names on the list, right? Wrong!
When we got there they told us we had to wait about 20 minutes because they were really busy. That was fine....still time enough to make the movie that I had already bought the tickets for.....twenty minutes later we asked and they said it would be another twenty minutes....wait, didn't you just tell us that 20 minutes ago?! So now it is way past the time that they had originally quoted us on the phone and I am getting worried that we won't make the show. We asked the waiter if there were any tables next to each other that we could at least split up if we were at tables close by. So the guy promised us that he would "put a star next to our name" (exact quote from waiter) and we would get the next two tables that should be ready in about five minutes. About ten minutes later, I was at the end of my last thread of patience and asked him if the tables were ready....oh.....wait a minute....another waitress have given that "starred" table away to another party! AHHHHH! Needless to say, we left Chili's. The kids were wondering why they were leaving the restaurant when they were still hungry.
We ended up at the movie theatre ordering personal pan pizzas from Pizza Hut and gobbled them up before the show started. It still worked out fine and I know the kids still thought it was great, but I wish we could have skipped the whole drama at Chili's. Ashlyn had fun with her friends and we all smuggled in drinks and candy for the show.
After the show, Chad dropped off the boys and then Ashlyn had a sleepover with her friend Abby and her cousin Nicole. We got them snuggled in bed and lights were turned off about midnight. I was woken up in the night with what I thought was maybe the TV had been turned on or something....I made Chad go look for the source of the noise. When he got back into bed he said that the girls were up playing in the playroom so he said he shut the door so they wouldn't wake up Ethan. I asked what time it was because it was still dark outside....I went and looked and it was four o'clock in the morning! I went and told the girls that it wasn't time to get up yet and they needed to get some sleep. A little while later Ashlyn came to ask for new batteries for her princess flashlight.....ahhhh! Go to bed! :) They slept in the next morning....actually Nicole slept into the afternoon....:) They told me the next day that they were sneaking down the stairs all through the night and sneaking around the kitchen and family room.....oh well, girls will be girls! Here are a few pictures from the movie theatre...
